The Honors Program at the University of Nebraska is a university-wide community of scholars—an intense intellectual experience for top students in a major research university setting. The Honors Program gives students who strive for academic excellence an opportunity to explore new knowledge through research, to participate actively in a process of discovery, and to appreciate and respect a diversity of opinions.
Nebraska Honors offers students the best of all worlds, providing the individualized attention and support one might expect from a smaller, liberal arts school, while also connecting students to the kinds of opportunities only available at a large research institution.
The University Honors Program provides current students many opportunities to enhance and customize their educational experience, to earn Honors credit in ways most meaningful to each student, and to be leaders within and outside of the classroom.
UNL faculty and staff work with Honors students in many capacities, from teaching Honors courses, to advising Honors students, to mentoring students in research settings and while writing an Honors thesis or senior project.
