Intern Foundry (IF) is a 15-week program that connects students to a diverse set of purpose-driven organizations according to their interests. The internship occurs over the Spring 2027 semester (January 11 - April 30), with one week off for spring break (March 14-21). Interns work approximately 8 hours per week at a rate of $16 per hour, for a total of 120 hours. Interns will have opportunities to meet local purpose-driven leaders and learn about their experiences and organizations in order to gain a better sense of professional identity.
Interns also attend required professional development sessions for an additional 30 hours, for a grand total of 150 hours:
- Prior to the internship start date, all interns will participate in one in-person training session in January, focused on project management. This training is a paid experience, and will take place January 4-6 and January 6-8. In-person attendance at ONE of these two trainings is required for the program.
- Interns will also enroll in a special Intern Foundry section of UHON 99H, which will including required in-person meetings on select Fridays from 2:30-4:30 pm. Hours in attendance are paid, whereas time spent on course assignments is unpaid.

Broad Program Goals:
ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY: Increase capacity and infrastructure support for nonprofit, public sector, and purpose-driven organizations serving Lincoln, Nebraska and elsewhere.
STUDENT LEARNING: Introduce interested students to the value of nonprofit, public sector, and purpose-driven business work in Lincoln, Nebraska and elsewhere through vetted quality individual and teamwork-based projects and experiences.
SYSTEMS APPROACH: Collaboratively build a strong system to effectively connect and support the partnership between nonprofit and purpose-driven industries and students.
