Workshop RSVP

Join us for either or both Honors teaching workshops this semester! Both workshops will be offered in collaboration with the Center for Transformative Teaching.

  • Thursday, October 1, 2:00-3:30pm, University Suites Multipurpose Room
    • “When Every Syllabus Is Different: Classroom AI Policy, Expectations, and Student Success”: As AI tools have become increasingly common in higher education, it has prompted universities, colleges, academic departments, and professors to all adopt some kind of policy governing their use. The guidance is vague but the stakes feel high. The result has been innovation in some spaces but confusion and frustration in others. This workshop is co-sponsored with the NU AI Institute and brings faculty together from across campus to discuss the benefits and challenges of individualized AI policies.
  • Wednesday, November 4, 12:30-2:00pm, University Suites Multipurpose Room (this is a brown bag; feel free to bring your lunch with you!)
    • “Teaching What Matters: Revisiting Your Learning Objectives in the Age of AI”: Artificial Intelligence is changing the way we work and live, but it is also forcing teachers to ask: Are our current learning objectives still aligned with what students need to know and be able to do? This workshop, in partnership with the Center for Transformative Teaching, will help us examine our course learning objectives through the lends of generative AI. We will explore which learning objectives should be protected from AI and which can be adapted to include AI as a learning tool.

Please let us know you plan to attend at least one week prior to the event date, so we can plan appropriately!
