Cooper Conversation: Mental Health Benefits of Nature

At this Cooper Conversation, entitled "Mental Health Benefits of Nature," we will explore the influence of natural environments and nature activities on wellbeing, with a special emphasis on children’s development. The topic ties to this year’s E. N. Thompson Forum on World Issues theme, "Lessons from the Natural World." The event is associated with UHON 301H for Future Healers and UHON 395H: The Science of Kids: Critical Issues in Developmental Psychology, but all students are welcome to attend!

This conversation will feature:

  • Dr. Anne Schutte, Associate Professor, Psychology
  • Dr. Julia Torquati, Professor and Interim Chairperson, Child, Youth and Family Studies
  • Dr. Philip (Pete) White, Social Studies Teacher, LPS Science Focus Program

Our guests will share their background and expertise in a panel format and then continue the conversation in small groups with student attendees.
