Critical Language Scholarship: • A representative from the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, Emily Hagemeister, will be speaking with interested undergraduate and graduate students about the Critical Language Scholarship. • Tuesday, October 25 • 7:00 pm 1105 Neihardt Residence Center, Love wing • Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) institutes provide fully-funded group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences for seven to ten weeks abroad for U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students. • Arabic and Persian: Advanced beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; • Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Punjabi, Turkish, and Urdu; Beginning, intermediate and advanced levels; • Chinese, Japanese, and Russian: Intermediate and advanced levels. • The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply. Arts & Sciences Student Advisory Board applications: The Arts & Sciences Student Advisory Board is a student representative organization that serves as a liaison between the college deans, faculty, and staff. The role of this board is to address student concerns while facilitating communication between both groups. The object of the Board is to advocate for undergraduate education in the College of Arts and Sciences provide opportunities for formal and informal contact between students and faculty and inform students, faculty, administrators of each others' respective interests. The Advisory Board is currently accepting applications. Students who are looking for a way to be involved in the college and on campus are encouraged to apply. Peer Mentor Leader and Peer Mentor Applications: Applications are now available on the Honors Program website for Peer Mentor Leaders and Peer Mentors. To apply to be a Peer Mentor Leader, you must have been a Peer Mentor for at least one year. Deadlines are on the applications. Feeling the need for more exercising of the brain? -it's why we joined the Honors Program :) Many of you just said "no" - but that's okay. Anyway, October 30th at 2 p.m. in the Union food court rooms is the semester Honors Program Quiz Bowl Event. Since it is near Halloween it is also a "Scare Bowl" with a Halloween theme. Prizes will be awarded for first place, second place, and the group with the best costumes! If you would like to sign up please email unlhpsab@gmail.com the three members of your team. MyRed: Please be sure your current address, phone and email address appear on MyRed. If you change your email address, be certain to change it there. The information which appears on MyRed is the addresses used at UNL for communication, so it’s imperative you keep that information current. Reminder about computer lab policies: -The Honors Program computer lab is for the use of Honors Program students only. Students who are not members of the Honors Program should use other computer labs on campus, regardless of where they live. Please cooperate with this policy. -If the toner is out in one of the printers or if another problem with the printers or the lab arises, please inform the main Honors office. -If you have difficulty printing, save your work and restart the computer before reporting a problem. -Remember you must provide your own paper for the lab. -Please be considerate of the other students working on computers hooked to the printer you’re using in order to work out the printing jobs successfully. -It is wise to put contact information on flash drives; in the event you leave one in the computer lab, someone will be able to return it to you. -To open PDFs and other documents from Blackboard, you may need to use Internet Explorer, not Firefox. -Please take precautions to prevent the spread of germs: use hand sanitizer before and after using the lab computers.
