Nebraska Colloquium: The next Nebraska Colloquium presentation is Professor Alice Kang's lecture: "Islam and Women's Rights in a Global Context." Wednesday, 7 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. UCARE: UCARE applications are due Friday, February 11! Want to work one-on-one with a faculty member? Want to earn money while gaining invaluable experiences? Consider UNL's undergraduate research program, UCARE! The Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences (UCARE) Program, supported by the Office of Undergraduate Studies and funded by the Pepsi Endowment and Program of Excellence funds, creates intellectual partnerships between UNL faculty and undergraduates by providing funds for research. The program supports opportunities for undergraduates to work alongside faculty members and directly participate in the campus' research or creative activities. Applications for the UCARE Program are online only and due Friday February 11. See the UCARE website, http://www.unl.edu/ucare/application/applyucare.shtml for application information. NOTE: Current first year UCARE students must apply for a second year in order to participate in the program. Those applications are due on Friday February 11 as well. Thesis Library: The Thesis Library, in Neihardt 118H, is a wonderful resource for all Honors students. In addition to all theses written by Honors Program students, it houses materials on writing the thesis, as well as several journals and general reference materials. It is open from 8 am-5 pm Monday through Friday, and your Honors Student Advisory Board members will hold office hours there Sunday through Thursday from 8 pm-10 pm. Take advantage of this resource-it is there for your benefit! Honors Contracts: If you contract a class by submitting the appropriate form, the course will be considered Honors, provided you fulfill the contract. The Honors designation will not, however, be visible on MyRed or DARS. It does show on your transcript as 'Honors Course'. For more information, see the FAQs for contracting on the HP website. Advising Reminder: With MyRed, it is essential that, if you contact Dr. Berger, Dr. Lyons, Dr. Madhavan or Ann Koopmann with an advising question, you include your Student ID number. Otherwise, we may have difficulty accessing your information. Computer Lab Policies: -The Honors Program computer lab is for the use of Honors Program students only. Students who are not members of the Honors Program should use other computer labs on campus, regardless of where they live. Please cooperate with this policy. -Remember you must provide your own paper for the lab. -Please be considerate of the other students working on computers hooked to the printer you're using in order to work out the printing jobs successfully. -It is wise to put contact information on flash drives; in the event you leave one in the computer lab, someone will be able to return it to you. -To open PDFs and other documents from Blackboard, you may need to use Internet Explorer, not Firefox. -Please take precautions to prevent the spread of germs: use hand sanitizer before and after using the lab computers. -If the toner is out in one of the printers or if another problem with the printers or the lab arises, please inform the main Honors office.
