The Honors Contract, the Memorandum of Study, and the Thesis Completion Form all require a faculty signature, so don't leave these till the last minute! -- New Announcements Attention Seniors: Plan to present your thesis research at the Great Plains Honors Council Conference here on the UNL campus, April 3-4. Contact Dr. Lyons at klyons2@unl.edu for more information. Don't miss this opportunity! This option is still available for an additional hour of Honors credit: The Nebraska Colloquium, consisting of Honors Forums, E.N. Thompson Lectures and Lied events, is open to all students. If you are interested in receiving 1 hour of Honors credit for attending a majority of the events and writing response papers to them, please contact Dr. Berger at pberger1@unl.edu for more information. Computer lab: If you are having difficulty accessing the HP computer lab, please see Marlene or Ann Koopmann in the main HP office. Only those students in good standing in the Honors Program are eligible to use the computer lab Paper usage in the lab has been extremely high, and a great deal of waste is occurring: we have found several reams of paper discarded daily. Free printing is a privilege, not a right, and if the high level of waste continues, we will have to limit the amount of paper we place in the computer lab. Some tips to conserve paper and protect your privilege: -Print ONLY information relevant to academic issues. Print ONLY what you need from a website: copy and paste that portion into a Word document and save pertinent information only. -Hit the "print" button ONLY ONCE: you may have to wait a few minutes if other people are in the print queue ahead of you. -DO NOT admit non-Honors Program students into the lab, and DO NOT print information for them. -Recycle and use recycled paper for drafts of papers. -DO NOT take paper from the lab for use in your own printers. Please be certain to pick up only your jump drives-several people lost them last semester. Check any you have to be sure they're yours, and return any which aren't to the main HP office. It's also wise to save any documents to your student account and/or email them to yourself, just in case a jump drive should disappear. UCARE application deadline: The application deadline for the UCARE program is fast approaching. This year the deadline is Friday, February 13. Over 400 undergraduates at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln are currently working one-on-one with faculty mentors in over 60 disciplines through UCARE (or Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experiences). This innovative program enriches the academic experience of undergraduate students at UNL by allowing them to explore a field of particular interest and learn alongside faculty mentors in a creative activity or research area. (To learn more about the UCARE program, please visit the UCARE website (www.unl.edu/ucare) or visit with Laura Damuth, Director of Undergraduate Research, ucare@unlnotes.unl.edu.)
