It is intended for any student (Freshman-Senior) who wishes to hear in more detail about the scholarship process and lay the groundwork for future scholarship application. Basic components of the application process will be covered: personal statements, resumes, help with obtaining good letters of recommendation, and research on graduate school programs. There will be a short assignment due at the end of the 5-week session. Save the date! Quiz Bowl, hosted by the Honors Program Student Advisory Board, will be Oct. 26. Form your team now! Computer lab: Paper usage has been extremely high, and a great deal of waste is occurring. Free printing is a privilege, not a right, and if the high level of waste continues, we will have to limit the amount of paper we place in the computer lab. Some tips: Print ONLY information relevant to academic issues. Print ONLY what you need from a website: copy and paste that portion into a Word document and save pertinent information only. Hit the "print" button ONLY ONCE: you may have to wait a few minutes if other people are in the print queue ahead of you. DO NOT admit non-Honors Program students into the lab, and DO NOT print information for them. Recycle and use recycled paper for drafts of papers. DO NOT take paper from the lab for use in your own printers. Please be certain to pick up only your jump drives-several people have lost them recently. Check any you have to be sure they're yours, and return any which aren't to the main HP office. It's also wise to save any documents to your student account or email them to yourself, just in case a jump drive should disappear.
