You'll learn essential information about the Honors Program and UNL during these. -- National and International Scholarship Deadlines: Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Gates Cambridge - all application materials (application forms, personal statements, and drafts of letters of recommendation) should be turned in to the Office of Undergraduate Studies by September 7. You should have spoken with Dr. Damuth before that date. Fulbright - all application materials should be turned in to the Office of International Affairs by September 9. Honors Semester In Wales With UNCW Again for Spring 2006, the Honors Scholars Program at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington will sponsor a semester study abroad program in Great Britain at the University of Wales at Swansea. We welcome honors students from other universities to join us. For more information, contact Dr. Lyons. -- Paid Position: Undergraduate Research Assistants (URA) The University of Nebraska Public Policy Center (PPC) is a link between University of Nebraska researchers and elected and appointed officials, state and local agency staff, the public at large, and others who represent the diverse policy interests of Nebraska. The PPC provides assistance to policymakers and researchers on a wide range of public policy issues, working with policymakers in all three branches of government at local, state, and federal levels. As a system-wide Policy Center, staff work with University researchers from all campuses of the University of Nebraska system. We are looking for URAs to work approximately 8-16 hours/week at the University of Nebraska Public Policy Center, located in downtown Lincoln at 121 South 13th Street (the SW corner of 13th and O Streets), Suite 303. The positions begin the Fall of 2005 and may continue into the Spring of 2006. Both work study and non-work study students are encouraged to apply. A background in the social sciences is helpful, but not necessary. URA duties include research, assisting with meeting coordination, general support for various projects and the PPC office. We are not concerned whether you have a policy background, but we interested in hiring someone who is reliable, is willing to work hard, and who wants to learn more about public policy. Founded under the International Academic Opportunities Act of 2000, this congressionally-funded program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education. The Gilman Scholarship program aims to broaden the student population that studies abroad by supporting undergraduates who have been traditionally under-represented in U.S. study abroad and those with high financial need. To be eligible students must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application and cannot study abroad in a country currently under a U.S. Department of State Travel Warning or in Cuba. The Spring 2006 application deadline is September 20, 2005.
