A number of graduating seniors will be there to showcase their work, to discuss with students the process of the thesis, and to give their input on the value of this sort of work. In addition, a representative from each college will be available to answer college-specific questions. This is a wonderful opportunity to follow up the thesis workshops held earlier this month. Be there! -- Attention seniors graduating in May: Please contact Dr. Berger immediately at pberger1@unl.edu to inform him of your thesis completion and your plans to graduate from the program. -- Registration for the Undergraduate Research Conference is now open on the Honors website. All students who are US citizens will find this workshop helpful if they are planning to apply for any National scholarships. (Juniors and sophomores are particularly encouraged to attend; graduating seniors should not attend.) Before coming to the workshop, please review the list of Scholarships on the Undergraduate Studies website: http://www.unl.edu/ous/scholarships.shtml What will be covered: *How to select a scholarship –which scholarship is right for you! *How to build your resume *How to write a personal statement *How to ask for (and get) great letters of recommendation *What resources are available to you here at UNL For more information, contact Laura Damuth, Fellowship Advisor, 104 Neihardt (2-5024 or Ldamuth1@unl.edu) -- Reminder of the change in policy with respect to contracts. Each semester, a few people, in agreement with faculty members, decide not to complete the contract portion of a class. As always, the faculty member is the person to decide how to proceed in this instance. However, we will no longer allow this change to occur after the Friday which falls two weeks before the end of classes. After that time, the Honors designation will stand and the grade in the Honors class will be affected. Of course, the faculty member always has the option to give an Incomplete. -- Summer financial aid: If you intend to use your textbook, Regents or other scholarship for summer study, you must apply for summer financial aid in order to do so. Use the Scholarships and Financial Aid website, and go to Summer Financial Aid. You should do this before you register for summer classes. Direct any questions to that office. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ HP News FLASH!! March 29, 2004 Peer Mentors needed!
