Deadline: Monday, March 29. -- Congratulations to senior Journalism major Ashley Frear-Coooper, who was presented the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service to Women. -- Important notice: a change in policy with respect to contracts. Each semester, a few people, in agreement with faculty members, decide not to complete the contract portion of a class. As always, the faculty member is the person to decide how to proceed in this instance. However, we will no longer allow this change to occur after the Friday which falls two weeks before the end of classes. After that time, the Honors designation will stand and the grade in the Honors class will be affected. Of course, the faculty member always has the option to give an Incomplete. -- Attention seniors graduating in May: Please contact Dr. Berger at pberger1@unl.edu to inform him of your thesis completion and your plans to graduate from the program. -- Registration for the Undergraduate Research Conference is now open on the Honors website. All seniors completing a thesis should consider participating. ___________________________________________________________________________________ HP NEWS FLASH!! 2003 TEXTBOOKS In the next University Consolidated Billing cycle, students will be charged for books obtained in the Fall Semester through the Honors Program Book Scholarship program that were not returned to the Bookstore by the deadline date of December 19, 2003. The amount billed to student accounts is for the "buy-back" value of the material as of December 19 rather than the retail price of the material. If students wish to return a book that they still own, they may check with the Bookstore for the current "buy-back" value. In order for the Bookstore to determine the value of the material, students should bring the book(s) to the Textbook counter at the Bookstore. Regardless of the payment the Bookstore makes at that time for the materials returned, the charge on the student's University Consolidated Bill for the material will not change since it reflects the value of the material(s) on December 19. Students may apply whatever payment they receive from the Bookstore to their University Consolidated bill by making a payment at the Bursar's office. Any questions regarding the student's University bill should be directed to Mr Robert Clark, Director of Student Accounts, 124 Canfield; questions about book values should be directed to Mr. Dan Smith, Textbook Manager, University Bookstore; any additional questions can be directed to Vice Chancellor James Griesen, 106 Canfield.
